Vodka and Ice Tea and Iced Tea Vodka are two very different things. One is basically a cocktail while the other is a vodka infusion. Really the latter is just tea flavoured vodka that has been either artificially flavoured or infused using tea leaves. Brands of tea flavoured vodka are detailed below.
Iced tea and vodka comes in many guises and can be a brilliantly refreshing drink. At London Cocktail Week this year I came across a recipe that really hit the spot (see Momo's Sassy Punch just below).
The great thing about putting together a cocktail with iced tea is that the options are endless. There are countless variations in tea and if you are into your tea varieties you can experiment very easily with iced tea vodka recipes. As a guide, if you add some sugar or sugar syrup to your vodka and iced tea plus perhaps a squeeze or two of lemon juice you should be onto a winner!
To prep the tea you can either chill a batch of your brewed tea of choice or alternatively buy a powdered mix that simply needs to be diluted.
If you are feeling adventurous you could always infuse your own vodka with tea but this will result in something quite different and need a lot of straining. Vodka is a versatile spirit that really can be infused with pretty much anything.
This is the recipe that was served at London Cocktail Week in the Ketel One Hub.

Produced on Wadmalaw Island in South Carolina, USA, Firefly purports as being the world’s first hand-crafted sweet tea flavoured vodka. It is distilled four times, infused with tea that is grown on a plantation just five miles away and then blended with real Louisiana sugar cane.
This is Absolut Vodka infused with Chinese black tea and oolong tea plus added elderflower flavourings.
Winner of a gold medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011, Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka is made in Austin Texas with honey and tea leaves and distilled ten times. It claims to be an all natural product with no artificial flavourings.

This is both a popular and potent classic cocktail with vodka being just one of 5 spirits that make up the toxic mix of alcohol.
A Cosmopolitan cocktail adopts just that in attitude by mixing alcohol with alcohol and topping up with just a dash of juice. If you want to intoxify your guests then this is the one to serve up! Short and strong, small sips are recommended to avoid peaking too early in a room spinning, dizzy head, hazy eyes drunken disaster!
This flirtatious cocktail adds a bubbly, pineapple twist to a Cosmopolitan. If you are feeling frugal switch the champagne for a Prosecco (arguably a more palatable fizz at a fraction of the cost).
A strawberry summer slush is the perfect concoction to chill you out in the heat of the sun whilst relaxing on a beach somewhere exotic! Or if you don't happen to be sunning yourself in a picture perfect, sun-drenched location then you can enjoy the drink whilst daydreaming about your next jaunt!
Warming heat of vodka plus silky smooth chocolate equals heavenly, boozy simplicity in a glass.
The Brand:
Smirnoff is by far and away the biggest producer of vodka in the world today. It outstrips the nearest competitor (Absolut) by 50%.
London cocktail week was a great opportunity to try out bars and cocktails that you hadn’t yet got around to checking out or test driving and it also provided a perfect excuse (if you needed one) to get out and about a few nights in a row to squeeze in as many £4 discounted drinks as you could in one week!
Blavod: 80% proof, neutral grain vodka.
The distinguishing feature of Blavod vodka is that it is black. It isn’t unique in its blackness as there are now a few copycats but it is definitely the most well-known brand of black vodka and claims to be the only ‘premium black vodka on the market’.
The Brand
Absolut is the second biggest selling brand of vodka in the world behind Smirnoff selling around 25 million cases per year.
